With the end of April finally here, it's time to get those patriotic hats out and jump into May! Maybe I'm a little early for Memorial Day or Independence Day celebrations, but I couldn't resist creating a project for the star-spangled Holidays! I have been hanging on to "Glory" for a few weeks now trying to decide what to make. I hate to waste my pretty paper on a project that I don't like!

After lots of contemplation, I decided to go with one of my new favorite things to craft... a banner! I tried to make the banner more patriotic and not geared toward any specific holiday so it can be used on several different occasions. The banner itself is just a little canvas album that I took apart and misted then threaded it onto a string of ribbon. Weather you're feeling a little patriotic, or you just love the colors red, white, & blue, make sure you stop by your local scrapbook store and pick up "Glory"! You won't be disappointed, I promise!

Beautifying Simple Gifts With Authentique & May Arts

For the past few Mother's Days, I've made things for my lovely mother and mother-in-law. This year has been a little busier than most, and I think I'm going to take a breather and choose a slightly easier path... Gift cards! There is only one problem, gift card envelopes are kind of ugly. So I found a few PDF's and SVG cuts for the following cards. 

These three were the easiest things to make! I simply followed this tutorial (and PDF) to create them. They were so easy! I actually preferred these to the ones that I cut with my electronic die cut machine. It was really nice to be able to use scissors and achieve something so pretty!

Here is an open card with a card in it so that you can see what the finished product looks like.

 

This cute little box which is the perfect size for a gift card was created using this template. It's really nice that there is an option for both a PDF and a SVG version. I cut this, then just messed with a generic heart shape to layer on the top of the closure. It's not perfect, but it's really cute.

This was just a super simple folded paper that I used my X-Acto to cut little holder marks to hold the card. I simply used a gift card holder that I had been given as my template.

A few things I figured out while making these:

• If you want to use the PDF template, you can use a light holding adhesive to temporarily attach the tracing sections to the paper so that it stays still (Authentique paper is great for this, as it's so thick!) I used my ATG, then my hand to "unstickify" the glue a little bit.
• It is really easy to wrap neat ribbons around a simple gift card holder to make it more special. 
• I found that if my ribbon was wrinkled, my flat iron worked really well to smooth it out. I used the lowest setting possible.

Mother’s Day is a lovely day in our home...laying around, eating good food, and of course I think about my own mother and mother in-law.

This week’s theme is Mother’s Day and I love it because it allowed me to create a layout where I could honor my own mother.

Authentique's use of emotion-based quotes and phrases is a perfect match to my style, as I really love quotes as well. I used the Petite Type alphabet stickers to add this quote to my layout:

"Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart."

 After I found the quote above, I knew exactly what I wanted to create using Authentique Paper and May Arts...how much fun is this!?

I like to work with foamtape on my layouts, it really allows you to create so much more depth on a project.

We have seen some incredible projects on the blog both last week and so far this week, I hope you enjoyed my layout today and are inspired to create something to   honor your mom! You can never tell a mother enough how much you love them...

I am so excited to share my project with you today using one of my personal favorite Authentique collections and some very cool ribbons from May Arts.

Since the theme this week is Mother's Day, I decided to make my Mother-in-Law a mini album.

I knew she would love the colors in the Gathering collection. 

I started off with a chipboard album from Maya Road and covered it with different patterns.

I was so excited about this "sheer frayed flowers ribbon" I ended up cutting out the flowers and using them as an embellishment throughout the album.  

I added buttons, butterflies and other ribbons to give them even more interest.

"Delightful" Mother's Day Gifts

This week's theme is Mother's Day. With the holiday quickly approaching, it's nice to get ideas on what to give to Mom. Cards are a given, if you are a paper crafter, more than likely, you always tend to make your own cards rather than buy them, right?

Once you have the perfect gift, what about gift wrap to match the lovely card that you made? Yes, you can use paper & ribbons for that also!

I wrapped my little gift with paper from the "Delightful" collection and then added some net ribbon. I also made some little roses to match. I thought they would add something a little different than the typical bow on top.

Genuine Friends Maya Road Mini album

Hi, it's Natalie here and today is my turn to share with you what I've created using Maya Road and Authentique.  

I used Maya Road's Mixed Scallop Triangle Banner Album and Authentiques Genuine Collection

The first thing I did was to use my Distress Stain in Picket Fence and ink up all the scallop edges, so much easier than cutting paper to match....I then took an exact o knife and using one of the straight edges triangle banners,  cut all my papers.  The painted edges go perfectly with the papers and give it a 'lacy' type look...LOVE it!
