Create Your Own 8x8 Scrapbook Album!

When I first saw the "Hope" collection, I fell in love!  I especially love the 8x8 size paper to work with. With this size, there are so many different possibilities!

Authentique does not have their own line of scrapbook albums, so I wanted to show you how to make your own with the new 8x8 size paper bundles!

You will need chipboard, about 9 inch x 9 7/8 inches, and four pieces that are 6/8 x 9 inch. I put an arrow on the pieces so when you add the paper, you will know which side is the top.

Cut two pieces of paper 12 x 10 5/8 inches in size. Glue the larger chipboard pieces in the center, cut off the corners.

Put some glue or tape at the edges of the chipboard. Glue the paper around the chipboard

Use a bone folder for the corners.

Lay the large chipboard pieces in front of you. The distance between the large piece of chipboard and the small piece is 1/2 inch, and to the next small piece is 2/8 inch. Tape it together with tissue or washi tape so the pieces stay together.

Cut a 5 1/8 inch x 10 5/8 inch piece of patterned paper, add glue then put the chipboard pieces on the paper. Turn it around and use your bone folder again on the spaces between the chipboard pieces.

Now for the inside. Cut two 8 7/8 x 12 inch pieces of patterned paper, glue the pieces onto the front and back coves. Use a bone folder or score board for nice creases. Add holes matching  that coordinate with your page protectors.

Cut a piece of paper 9 inch x 2 9/16 inch, make hole's on the same place as you did on the covers. Curve this piece a little, this is the back of the album.

Now you can bind your album with extension posts ( I used 1.5 inch) in this order: front cover, the round piece of paper, the page protectors, the curved piece of paper, the back cover.

Now for the fun part! Decorate your album with coordinating stickers & other embellishments!

On the cover I used some of our new stamps from Hampton Art!

Of coarse, I made a layout for the inside! We took this photo at CHA, it was so good to see Bret and Samantha again!

  29. Hello! Thank you so much for sharing this. I just came across this and wondered what pt thickness you used for the chipboard. Every one I get is not very thick and would never hold up this this.
