Simply Irresistible Altered Frame

Hi everyone, it's Audrey, here to share a little home decor project featuring Authentique's newest collection Irresistible.

I am absolutely smitten with Irresistible's elegant patterns and classic color combination. The papers are non theme specific while the cut-apart Enhancements sheet and Components cardstock stickers nod to all things love and romance. So perfect for all those upcoming June weddings. But even if you're not planning a wedding this year, Irresistible is perfect for documenting all the special loves in your life, like mine for my sweet daughter. To me, she is, well........simply irresistible!

Adding framed art to your home decor can be a bit pricey, but not when you create your own from inexpensive wooden frames from the craft store. Dress them up with a few papers and embellishments, and you have an instant custom one-of-a-kind decoration on a budget.

To get started, paint the edges and back of a wooden frame with black acrylic paint. Don't forget the inside edge of the frame opening.

Cover the front of the frame with Allure 12x12 patterned paper. Sand and ink the edges. Cover the inside of the frame with Passion 12x12 paper. Silhouette cut a favorite photo and insert into frame opening.

Adhere black trim across the bottom of the frame. Add a cardstock sticker from the Components sticker sheet to the left side of the frame. I cut the sticker into two pieces, one to go above the trim, and the smaller piece below. This is a great trick to expand the length or size of embellishments for a custom fit.

Trim the Simply Irresistible sentiment from the cut-apart Enhancements sheet, edge with ink, and adhere to the trim in the frame opening.

Now embellish the frame with flowers and bows!

The Stunning 12x12 paper is filled with gorgeous flowers, white on one side, and black on the reverse. Cut a selection of flowers from both sides of the paper, including flowers of different sizes.

To create some depth and dimension on your finished flowers, lay them onto a soft, pliable surface and press in the center using a dry embossing tool or wooden skewer.

Do this for all the flowers. Create enough flowers to layer some together, as well as leaving a few as singles.

Adhere the smaller flowers to the center of the larger. To create the focal flower, adhere onto a Petaloo paper flower. Cut several petals from a Petaloo mesh flower to use as leaves. Adhere leaves between the flower layers. Top each flower with a pearl.

Affix main flower and some pretty bows to the left side of the frame.

Create a few smaller versions of the focal flower to adhere to the right side of the frame, along with the rest of the flowers.
Enjoy!

  4. This is beautiful! Thanks for the skewer tip, I had never thought of that. Typically I will use dimensional foam on different petals to give the flowers dimension but, I like this skewer tip too!!
