Bon Voyage with 'Abroad'

Hello again fellow Authentique fans!  Kay here with a little satchel created with the 'Abroad' collection.  Seems like this collection is ideal for making satchels, suitcases & any other type of travel themed boxes, bags or luggage!  I took inspiration from The Gentleman Crafter when creating the outside of the satchel.  He created a bigger & much more intricate version of this satchel. I chose a simpler design, especially for the inside.

This is more on the masculine side--therefore I used several products by Tim Holtz to give it that grungy rustic look.

The straps & handle were made with the use of grunge board.  The strips were given that leather look by inking them with Distress Stains & Inks.  The outside of the satchel was made with several pieces of thick black chipboard.  Papers from the 'Abroad' collection were then used to decorate it.

The satchel lid is kept closed with the use of Velcro which I applied underneath the straps.

A piece of flexible corrugated cardboard was used as the lid of the satchel!

Here's the box inside the satchel--this photo is take from the back of it.  This was a photo box by 7 Gypsies that I had in my stash.  I painted it black to match the satchel & decorated it with several papers from the 'Abroad' collection.

The box flips open on both sides.I adhered a piece of black Velcro to the lid in order to keep the photo box closed.  The sentiment in the middle of the box I cut out from the cover of the 6x6 'Abroad' bundle pack.

Here's the front view of the photo box.

Hope you found this satchel inspirational--it took me a while to complete & it was a first for me--but the end result made it all worthwhile!

Enjoy the rest of the week...
