Since I've been stamping way before I started scrapbooking (even before there was a scrapbook "industry"), I'm always excited when we have the chance to participate in a swap with a rubber stamp company – which this week features a swap with Sweet Stamp Shop. For my project I'm using the "Happy Hour" stamp set which was perfect for creating a New Years layout. And this is also my first project featuring the newly released "Elegant" line of paper from Authentique – and I can't get enough of this new line of paper!
Here's a close up shot of the 14 (for 2014) at the bottom left corner of the page. I stamped the fireworks image using Delicata Silvery Shimmer because it shows up so wonderfully on the dark background "Elegant Eleven" paper. This was then layered with a Spellbinders die cut piece of "Elegant One" paper with the number one chip board number covered with "Elegant Twelve" and the number four covered with "Elegant Eight."
I used some of the different phrase and graphics stamps from the "Happy Hour" set through out the layout. Here you can see that I stamped the champagne glass with Memento Luxe Bahama Blue. "Happy New Year" was stamped with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black, then heat set with black embossing powder. I then stamped the star bursts with Delicata Silvery Shimmer.
I hope that this project has given you some inspiration to create a layout (or two!) of this past year's New Years celebrations before the next one arrives!

I started this little card by looking at the ombre patterns on the back of the Classique: Elegant 6x6 Bundle. The art teacher in me just had to make a sweet little value scale from Sweet Stamp Shop's Color Wheel Set. I stamped each section, then paper pieced it together so that each of the shades was displayed. I wanted the varied greys to stand out, so kept the rest of the card monochromatic in both papers (Classique: Twelve) and embellishments.
I even used some wonderful new ink from Imagine Crafts, Tarnishing Silver Delicata Pigment ink. In the light, it sparkles. Stamped the sentiment from the Color Wheel set onto a doily cut from a page of the 6x6 Bundle, and it was perfect.
As soon as I saw the next stamps, I knew I wanted to make the little dust bunnies from the Press It Wash It set. I started by stamping those with the same Delicata Ink from the previous card. I then colored those with a few Spectrum Noir pens, and cut each one out. I then stamped the vacuum, colored that in colors that mirrored the base pattern paper I had chosen and cut it out as well. Did you notice that I used patterned papers from the Precious Collection? I love using themed papers in other ways.
Once the pieces were cut out, I used some foam adhesive to create dimension, then added the sentiment by stamping it onto a banner from the What's For Dinner set. I added a bit of "dust" by taking a silver Signo gel pen and adding some little spots around the bunnies.
Lastly, I created this fun menu board using a piece of Dapper from the Suave Collection, and the animal and vegetarian stamps from What's For Dinner stamp set. I started by cutting the paper to fit the clipboard, then stamped using Memento ink (Nautical Blue).
Once the paper was covered with animals, I ran it through my Xyron 900 Creative Station, and attached the paper to the clipboard.
Now I'm ready to write up the menu for each day or week!

ReplyDeleteWhat fun creative projects you both created today. I like all the shapes on the layout. Cute cards especially the vacuum card, very clever. That menu board is really cute. I keep a list of what I make just to figure out what needs to go from the fridge. That would be a cute way to have that list up.
