A "Spirited" Halloween
Are you ready for some "spooktacular" projects? Here are a couple featuring our Spooky new Halloween collection, "Spirited".
First up, a fun card that really highlights the wonderful subway art-style journaling cards available on the 12x12 Enhancements Cut Apart paper.
Of course the Enhancements cards are perfect for scrapbook pages and pocket pages, but they also make fabulous focal points for card designs, like my card here. And with a sentiment this spectacular, you really don't need much else.
I simply layered the journaling card with a background that was pieced from a mixture of my favorite 12x12 and 6x6 Spirited patterned papers. Added a pair of die cut spiderwebs in the corners, a bit of machine stitching, and a spooky die cut spider suspended on a bit of string. For one final touch, I added a bit of watercolor to the central part of my sentiment to allow it to really shine.
Of course Halloween is all about the sweet treats, so I couldn't resist making a fun treat carton to go along with my card.
This cute container is made with Sizzix's Fancy Crate Bag die, and it really is so simple to put together. Just die cut the pattern from a sheet of 12x12 paper, fold along the creases, and adhere with a strong adhesive. Authentique papers are strong enough to stand up to the task, without need of adding any additional reinforcement. I did die cut the handle, however, from chipboard, for a bit of extra strength. Painted and inked the handle, then tied it with some pretty trim. Added an easy hang tag made from two of the die cut sentiment strips from the Components die cut sheet.
I love the fun strips from the "labyrinth" 12x12 paper, and wanted to incorporate a couple of them here. It's so easy to add detail to the outside of the carton with just a few simple strips of paper. I added fun tinsel trim to the top edge, then finished off with that adorable toxic treats die cut, also from the Components die cut sheet.
I hope you enjoyed my spooky treats today! Anybody else ready for some Halloween crafting?
