Christmas Decor With 'Tidings'

Today's project is one I made with the use of Authentique's 'Tidings' collection.  I spotted this thick chipboard deer  wreath at my local Michaels and figured I'd give it a shot in decorating it with this fabulous Christmas themed collection.  I chose 'Tiding's because of the deer images on one of the pages from the collection. :-)
.

This is what the wreath originally looked like.

To create this wreath I first painted the border with black acrylic paint.  This wreath measures over 12" inches in width & height (approximately 14" inches I believe) so 1 sheet of 12"x12" paper wouldn't work to cover the outer part of the wreath.  So I opted to paint it instead.

Once the black paint dried, I applied some Twinkle paint in order to give the border of the wreath a bit of 'bling'.

To cover the deer itself, I traced it onto my designer paper & cut it out with a pair of small scissors.

The paper was adhered to the wreath with the use of 'Decou-Page' adhesive.

Once all the paper is adhered--the last step is to embellish.  So I added some flowers & small Christmas embellishments along with these jingle bells that I hung from a metal swing clasp.

The final touch was some ribbon garland that I hot glued around the border of the wreath.
It's a fairly quick project & adds a nice decorative handmade touch to your home.  This wreath is currently hanging on the door leading into my family room.  It's also great to get those creative juices flowing since it's up to the artist to come up with their own unique way of embellishing the wreath.

Hope you all enjoyed this project!  Thanks for stopping by.
