Road Trip! Pastimes Passport Style Mini Album

Hello, Friends!  Kathy here with a really fun way to use the fabulous new Pastime Collection. Summer time is travel time for many of us: trips to the beach, trips to the mountains, visiting family, going to the zoo.  Wherever your summer travels take you, even if it is just to the park or pool, this Road Trip passport style mini album is the perfect place to capture your summer memories.

This chunky little passport album is perfectly vintage and loaded with all sorts of interactive elements.  I created it to have 3 signatures (inserts) and each signature has 12 pages. The Pastime Collection is the perfect partner for  Eileen Hull's Passport Book Die by Sizzix,  Measuring a petite 3.75" x 5" x 2" it's just the right size to tuck in your suitcase, back pack or glove box in your car.  The Pastime 6x6 Bundle is sized perfectly for this album.  Paired up with the 12x12 Pastime Collection Kit, you have almost everything you need to create this vintage passport journal.

I fussy cut this fabulous Road Trip sign from the Pastime 12x12 cut apart page, mounted it on kraft cardstock and a painted piece of a shipping box.  Backing it with a little burlap adds wonderful texture and dimension.  The flair button was easy to make, too.  I simply placed the round sticker from the Details Sticker Sheet onto the back of a large button.  A few bits and bobs from my stash and a ribbon closure complete the cover design.

Here's a look at the binding and back cover.  Beads, various travel themed charms, layered papers and the adventure arrow sticker lend a playful feel to the album.

Pastime Passport Style Mini Album Video Tour

This album is so filled with interactive elements that I thought it best to create a YouTube video tour so I can share them all with you.  You'll find lots of tips, tricks, and techniques that you can use in your own crafty adventures, too.

Pockets, Flaps, Fold Outs and More

You'll find more detail about the inside pages in the video, but here are a few still shots to whet your appetite.

I love to add pockets to my projects.  This side pocket holds a bundle of 3.25" x 4.25" photo mounts cut from kraft cardstock.  The cover page is decorated with one of the fabulous stickers from the Details Sticker Sheet that comes with the 12x12 Pastime Collection Kit.

Petite Diction Stickers also come in the 12x12 Collection Kit.  It's so much fun to create your own titles and captions with these little beauties.

I fell in love with the brick patterned paper in this collection.  How fun would it be to journal in a graffiti style on this background?  And just look at that custom paper clip embellie!  So easy to make!  I simply mounted the Polaroid camera sticker onto a folded scrap of kraft cardstock.  Then I cut a fishtail banner on the bottom and looped it over a paper clip.  A dab of glue seals it in place.  It's so chic and trendy...but only you and I know how cheap and easy it is to make!

I found a tiny paper bag in my stash, covered it with an image from the 12x12 cut apart page then tucked a journal tag inside.  The bag can also hold small mementos or receipts from your trip. The facing page has a fun flip up feature. These are a cinch to make when you use the 6x6 Bundle.  Just cut the paper in half, top to bottom.  Then score the 3" x 6" strip in half.  Shape the corners if you desire (I desired) then glue in place.

A belly band is not just a great tuck spot...it's a great way to use up small scraps of paper!  When paper is this fabulous, you don't want to waste any of it.  I used another scrap to decorate this kraft tag, which is a great place to journal.  And, there's still room behind the belly band to tuck in photos or souvenirs.

The facing page has a really fun hidden journaling tag clipped to it.  I made this by folding kraft paper in half and adding the road trip sticker.  The corners are shaped with a ticket stub punch.  And just look at all those darling retro cameras!

This pocket holds one of the journal spots from the Pastime 12 sheet.  I folded it in half so it would fit in the pocket.  The really fun thing is that you can actually record info on this journal tag, and mount photos on the back.

The cute hang tag was also simple to make: mount the Route 66 sticker on kraft cardstock, cut around it, thread with burlap string and glue in place.  There are many fabulous images to fussy cut from this collection, too! I tucked one beneath the tag.

Waterfall features are absolutely one of the best ways I've found to add lots of photos in a small space.  To make this one, I cut Pastime 3 into 3" x 5" rectangles.  Then I scored a 1/2 flap on the long side, shaped the corners and glued in place.   You can actually fit 6 photos on this one page.

The back inside cover turned out super cute.  The pocket on the back holds a tiny notebook that I made with a few scraps of paper.  Now you have a place to write things down!

It's really true: Life is a grand adventure!  I hope you find lots of exciting ways this summer to get out there and live it...and then capture the memories with this great collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Cheerio,
kathy
