Valentine's Post Box with the Romance Collection

Hello! It's almost Valentine's Day and I am trying to get ready for all of the sweet notes that I know my two little girls will start writing as they get excited for a day full of pretty things, fun activities and their favorite, candy. To start preparing, I found this fun post box from the Dollar Spot at Target. Target has had some great alterable items recently, and I knew that this one would get covered as soon as I grabbed it. It originally was all red with some white hearts, but I thought it would look beautiful all dressed up in the Romance Collection instead.
I started by just measuring the paper, and cutting two matching strips from Romance Six, about 5" wide. Inking the edges with Distress Oxide Ink (Festive Berries) created a nice transition from the paper to the original color of the box.
To cut in the mail slot, I just used a kraft knife and carefully pierced the paper. Use really strong adhesive to attach the edges to the inside of the box.
Once the box was covered, I added the front. I really liked this fun die set from Diamond Press. The vintage font was a perfect foil for the Romance Collection. By using simple black cardstock against the light tones of the Life Card (Retired Authentique Collection), the POST stands out but also is color coordinated.
I also added quite a few lovely flowers and a flower pick to add to the decor using some strong adhesive. The pick is simply placed into a piece of foam adhesive.
The back of this box is a little more plain, but super cute! To create the space for the existing flap, I used my craft knife and carefully cut along the opening of the box, then widening that space to create an easily opened box.
The sides were cut from Romance Four, with a paper trimmer for the edges, but then just by hand for the curve. I inked the edges, so it hides any imperfections.
The only downside, you see a little of the original pattern, but it's not too noticeable. If you really didn't like it, you could paint your post box first.
A few of the cut-apart card from Romance Eight. This will be just the perfect size for fun Valentine's cards and love notes.
To add just a little more pop of love, I also added a stamp image from the 12x12" Elements Punch Out Die Cuts. I just love the die cuts, as they are SO simple to use. Just ink them up, pop them up on dimensional adhesive, and done!
The bottom border (Romance Four) added just a little bit more color, and created a great base for the post box. This was just a simple strip of .25" paper, inked and attached. I also added just a bit of Red Licorice Spectrum Cardstock on the front sentiment.
I hope this inspires you to get ready for Valentine's Day just a bit early! The Romance Collection is perfect for all of your cards and projects.

Other Supplies: post box (Target), Distress Oxide Ink (Festive Berries), Petaloo Flowers and pick (retired), dimensional adhesive
