Dream a Little Dreamy of Me Folio Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  Kathy here with a Dreamy project share and tutorial today.

Today we're going to create this Authentique Dreamy 5 1/4" x 8 1/2" x 1" trifold folio from scratch.  I'm inviting you into my studio for a brand new kind of video tutorial.  We'll start at the very beginning of my design process, so you can see how I come up with these wacky and wonderful projects.

Firt, I 'll take you on a project tour, where we will flip through the pages and mechanisms in this fun to make Dreamy folio.    For those of you who have repeatedly asked me "where do you get your ideas?"  or "how do you come up with these designs," this is the tutorial you've been waiting for.

This tutorial will cover the following steps:

  • How to choose papers from a collection to create a harmonious design
  • How to build a fabulous folio base using 2 pieces of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock
  • How to create instant depth by using matting layers.
  • How to create fun flip pages
  • How to create several styles of pockets
  • How to create hidden pocket pages and inserts
  • How to make a box pocket
  • How to create a waterfall feature

Does this look overwhelming to you? I hope to demonstrate that when you break a big project like this down into single steps, you'll see it's actually very doable. Oh, and FUN!

While we won't spend a lot of time decorating this folio, I will share tips and tricks in the video that will help you with that part of the project.  I really just wanted to focus in on the "how to's" so that you can take your crafty adventures to the next level with fun inserts, pockets, mechanisms, flips, flaps and all the other stuff that makes papercrafting so enjoyable. You'll find a linked supply list and a basic cutting guide below the post.

So are you ready to get your craft on?  Just click play, and we'll get this party started!

I hope you have as much fun making this Dreamy folio as I did!  As always, I wish you joy and creativity!
