Vintage Valentine Card
Good morning, Authentique Fans! This is Gloria Stengel with you today! 'Tis the season for making Valentine's Day cards! But...what if you don't have any Valentine-themed paper? (It could happen!! It's not likely, but it could happen!)
We all know that I have loads of Valentine paper, but...I wanted to try to use something so very NOT Valentine-y! I chose the NEW Voyage Collection for my card. Now, Voyage is very FAR from being a Valentine-themed paper collection. However, it does have lots of red and white, plus some great images that could be perfect for a love theme! Plus, not every Valentine's Day card needs to be pink and heart-filled, right?!
I was captivated by the romance of these vintage people, on the deck of their fancy ship, having fancier cocktails. What is more romantic than a Valentine's Day cruise?! Well, not if it's the Titanic, but I digress! This was the perfect image to build a Valentine card around! I did sneak in two stickers from the Love Notes Collection. It is fun to pick through my stuff to see if I have things that can work with my ideas! Sometimes it means looking at collections in a new way, or combining collections, or looking at older, retired collections! Let's face it, shopping your stash is FUN!
The card is 6" x 5", made from dark blue cardstock. Yes, dark blue...not red, or pink! I love the sailing images from the background paper, too! But....yet...we still have a Valentine card!
I die cut a lace heart, and added some lace trim to the card. I also glued on some red and white flowers. I gave the whole card some shine with the enamel dots.
I hope you are inspired to look at your papers to see how you can use them in different ways!
Thanks for looking!
