Happy Father's Day Group Blog Post - Day One with Kathy & Heather

We wanted to thank all of the fathers, brothers, uncles, grandfathers, and father figures that we cherish and love this week. Make sure to come back later this week to see more of the projects that our fabulous team put together this week. We love all of the men in our lives.

Hello, Friends!  Kathy here with a Manly Fisherman Card for Father's Day.  I grew up in a family of avid fishermen.  My dad and my 3 older brothers were up bright and early most every Saturday morning with tackle boxes, rods & reels, a can of night crawlers and a bag of sandwiches in tow.  They were gone fishing!  It was a time for them to relax and enjoy being together.   Dads seem to know how to speak volumes without uttering a single word.  I've tried to capture that in this tall and skinny card made with Authentique's new Manly collection.
The card measures 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" so there's lots of room to add layers of this handsome paper collection.  I've also used Spectrum Hot Cocoa and Honeycomb to mat images and frame the card.
It's fun to add dimension and details with these wood discs that our son cut from a tree branch.  They are the perfect spot to add a few fishing themed novelty buttons.
You can tuck a gift card inside the pocket of this card so Dad can go shopping at his favorite sporting goods store.  And if he likes to read, this many bookmark might come in handy.
Dads play a huge role in shaping our lives, and I'm thankful that I had my wonderful dad to teach me what a real man looks like.  He was gone too soon, passing into Glory when I was only 13 years old.  But the lessons he taught me have served me well in this life.  I hope all the dads out there are celebrated, doted on and completely spoiled on Father's Day this year!

Heather Conklin
Hello, and Happy Father's Day week! If your house is anything like mine, you've been working, teaching, and have been spending ALL the time with your kiddos. This Father's Day, I really want to thank my lovely husband for all of the hard work that we have done this season.
I started with this fabulous Dad Accordion Fold Card by Lori Whitlock. I really liked the little tools that were on it. It was also fun and graphic. The base for this card was Manly Four. I really liked the dark blue tone of this paper.

Each of the letters was cut from various sides of the Manly Collection papers. I used Manly Three, Four and Five respectively.
The tools were cut from a combination of brown cardstock, Manly Four and Spectrum cardstock in Silver Dollar. All of the pieces are popped up using foam adhesive. This creates depth and interest.

Once each was cut, I inked them all lightly with Stampin' Up ink in Tip Top Taupe

Once the card was complete, I used the A2 Notecard Envelope Box, sizing it to my card. To create some more interest on the front and make it more gift-like, I also cut the Best Dad Handlettering Brush Script from Manly Five and offset it. After inking both pieces, I added it to the envelope.
This was a fun card to put together, and I know that it will be a fun card to display on Father's Day.

Supplies Used: Authentique Manly Collection (12x12 Paper Pad, Manly Three, Manly Four, Manly Five), Spectrum Series (Silver Dollar), brown cardstock, kraft cardstock, foam adhesive, ink
