Summer Days Card with June Calendar Collection

Summer Days: Blue Skies, Sunshine and Buzzing Bees
Hello, Friends!  Hello, Summer!  Time for blue skies, sunshine and buzzing bees!  Today I've pulled out my favorite Authentique June Calendar papers to make this summery greeting card.

This 5" x 7" top fold card is entirely made with the scraps I had left after making my June Desk Calendar Tutorial.  It's amazing what a little clever paper piecing allows you to do!
Add a little shabby chic detail with a Spellbinders Heirloom Oval Die cut from cream cardstock.  Machine stitching and gingham ribbon add a sweet homespun feel to the card design.

TIP: Stitch panels of the plaid and floral patterns from the June calendar collection onto a white cardstock mat.  Then use ribbon to cover the seam!  It looks like a design element.  Is that sneaky or what?

TIP:  Die cut too short ? Try cutting it in half across the middle.  Then adhere the halves where you want them.  Now cover the seam with your focal image.  That's another sneaky trick!

This handsome bee charm is headed straight for that bodacious yellow blossom in the corner.
Blue Skies, Sunshine and Buzzing Bees: A Peek Inside

Dress up the inside of your card with pockets.  Layer scraps of patterned paper to cover the card base.  Then turn an image into a pocket by gluing it down on the sides and bottom.

Mat leftover image and sentiment panels on plain cardstock to create mini folios. Measure the height of the image, double it, then add 1/4" .  Then cut the paper about 1/4" wider than the image.  Fold in half and adhere your image to the front.  Easy peasy!

Since I'm a tea drinker, I like to tuck in a tea bag, honey stick and a vintage demitasse spoon.  Chocolate is always a welcome treat.  But you can tailor your add ins for the recipient.  It's such fun to find little treasures that turn a card into a gift.

I hope I've inspired you to break out those precious scraps and make something beautiful today. If so, I'd love to hear from you in the comment section below!

Cheerio,
