Romantic Valentine's Day Banner

Hello, Friends!  Valentine's Day is one of my absolute favorite holidays!  My mom and dad were married on Valentine's Day.  Dale and I were married 2 days after Valentine's Day, and 2 of our 3 sons chose that holiday to tie the knot as well.  I love everything about this sweet, romantic holiday from heart-shaped cookies to chocolates to pretty Valentines.  This year, I dug into my stash of  the Romance collection to make a frilly Valentine Banner.

Adding a banner to your home décor makes every day feel like a holiday.  Here are a few tips and tricks to help you make a Valentine Banner to brighten up your home this month.

  • Mix and match the shape and size of the pennants on your banner.  I used some vintage style tags along with hand cut pennants .
  • Fussy cut and layer elements for the win.  Add foam dimensionals between the layers to create lots of lovely dimension.  And a lacy white doily feels right at home on a Valentine's Day banner.

  • I like to machine stitch my banners to a length of ribbon to make them strong and secure.  Here, I stitched a layer of lace over pink gingham ribbon.  But you could just as easily use mini clothespins to attach your pennants to the ribbon.

Add a pop of color to your banner with pretty flower clusters around the central image.

This resin bird cage was the perfect complement to the sweet little love bird nest in the focal image.

Adding a circular image to a rectangular pennant offers a nice deign contrast.  Die cut the circle and adhere over a white lace doily to double down on this idea.  Then fussy cut an image from a 3x4 card, back with dimensionals and surround with fussy cut and paper flowers.

I think it would do us all good to celebrate Valentine's Day with a little extra gusto this year.  So dig into your stash of past Authentique Valentine collections and let the paper fly!  It's the best way I know to make my heart feel full and happy.

Banner of the Month for 2021???

Last year, I created a little Authentique Desk Calendar for each month of the year.  Many of you have contacted me to ask me if I would be willing to do something similar in 2021.  Well, I've been thinking about this for weeks, searching for a paper collection that would work.  But no luck!

So, what if we did a little banner of the month instead?  I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments about this below.  It seems like it would be fun to dress our homes up with a cheery little banner for each month of the year. Tell me what you think!

Wishing you all a lovely Valentine's Day!
