Basically Bare Blog Hop Day 1!

Authentique Paper and Basically Bare are teaming up over the next couple of days to bring you tons of inspiration using Authentique Paper and Basically Bare products!

With back-to-school in mind, I wanted to create

 a couple of special teacher gifts.  

For the first project,

 CURIOUS OWL NOTEBOOK, 

I used portions of the Basically Bare Album. 

 On the front, clear cover I hand-stitched a few buttons

 to the bottom, outlining the shape. 

 I also machine stitched around the perimeter

so that the edge would be defined.

For the inner cover, I layered the cardboard sheet and felt scalloped sheet 

together and then embellished with an owl dressed in 

Curiosity patterned papers and stickers.  

  

Next, I took 8.5 x 11 copy paper and trimmed the

sheets down to a 5.5"W X 5.25"H; reserve the scraps.

Line up the papers with the top of the album and punched

holes.  Insert rings and tie on colorful ribbons.

I had one remaining piece of the album left: a canvas sheet.

I just had to use it!  

Take the scrap pieces of copy paper and cut in half

 so that they measure 3.25"H X 5.5"W.

Fold the canvas sheet around the paper to form a pocket;

machine stitch around the edges or glue in place.

Decorate the front as desired and then string

through a length of ribbon and tie at the top to 

create a useful hanger.  You may also attach a magnet

to the back so that it may be hung in that fashion.

I really love the idea of making my embellishments my own.  I did a couple of different things to my Basically Bare Embellies.  I inked the edges, sprayed them with mists, used a texture spray and covered them with patterned paper.  I was able to create several different looks with these Embellies, but tie the whole thing in by using the Fresh and Carefree Collections.

For both cards I used the pages from the mix and match mini album from Basically Bare. I love the chipboard elements! 

For the first card I used the little chipboard house on the acrylic front. 

For this second card I used a page from the mini album again, but I folded it as a file folder so you can put money or a gift card inside the folder.

The red leaves I punched out of stickers from the Lively collection and of course I used the chipboard flowers from Basically Bare.

I made a family door hanger

 with some different Chipboard pieces from Basically Bare

and the Authentique Collection " Enchanted"

For the letter B..

I hand cut it our layering some patterned papers the make the inside to the B pop out.

some glitter glue to give it a finished look.

The Owl I wanted to mix the patterned papers.. adding the word stickers gave it a more

personal touch. I love the variety of stickers that just went so well with this project.

I hope you give it a try.. it was alot of fun to make.. and would make an awesome present.

JJ Sobey

I made a birthday card paring the "Lively" collection with Basically Bare's dress shapes in felt & canvas.

(The sentiment on this card translates to: "Happy Birthday, my Beautiful Princess")

I customized the shapes with mists and stencils to make them coordinate with the papers, then added a little bit of trim to the 'princess' dress.
