We are all about recycling here (if you haven't noticed that already). My husband is always finding "trash" for me to re-purpose into neat projects & home decor pieces. A few months ago he brought home a bunch of old picture frames that someone was throwing away. So my first thought was to make something with them!
I was really drawn to this frame. The dimension and design on it screamed "Enchanted!"
I painted the frame with a matte black spray paint, it was previously an antique gold color, which was not going to work for my project. Here you can see the neat detail. Adding the beautiful flowers from Petaloo was just the icing on the cake for this project.
The dimensional flowers were made from recycled toilet paper rolls. I cut them into strips and spray painted them then added a little shimmer with some glimmer mist. I used stickers from the "Enchanted" 12x12 Details sticker sheet for the centers of the flowers.
I thought that the little spiders were just the cutest little things! I had to add them on here somewhere... and I am NOT a fan of spiders... I'm actually terrified of them. These however, are simply adorable and were the perfect addition to my Halloween home decor project!

ReplyDeletethis rocks Emily! gotta save me some TP rolls!
ReplyDeleteWhat an cute project.
ReplyDeleteThat is perfect for this time of year!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! Those TP rolls look great and I love the black/orange contrast!
ReplyDeleteEmily...you are an inspiration! An old "throw away" frame and the "lowly" TP roll turned into a work of art like this one, amazing! Your choice of orange Petaloo flowers and spiders is the perfect complement too!! Thank you for making our flowers and Dazzlers look so great!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this. So pretty! And I agree, those little spiders are the cutest!!
ReplyDeleteEmily what a FABBBBY project. I have a thing for old frames and you did WELL by this one!!! and BTW....I am in agreement with you about the spider thingy.....couldn't resist using them on my project either!!
ReplyDeleteThis is just gorgeous Emily!
ReplyDeleteHi, Emily! Your project is really cute and how lucky are you to have a hubby that "gets" you and what you're all about? My ex would no more have thought to bring home old frames to me than the man in the moon.... that's one reason he's my ex! LOL Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThis look fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is an absolutely inspirational project! I can't wait to look around my craft room to see what I have to remake!

ReplyDeleteI really like the dimensional flowers on here. I love the way you see the edges of the toilet roll instead of just using flat paper. The spiders are so cute. Just a little detail added that made this project even cuter. Fun stuff!
ReplyDeleteLove the ornate frame, great idea to spray it! Will have to try that.
ReplyDeleteI think the matte black paint helps bring out the detail in the picture frame really well. Even with the black and orange color scheme the matte black keeps it from screaming just halloween. It can be used as decor for the whole Fall season, even with the spiders. And, I still get a giggle when I see art work using toilet paper rolls. It's wonderful to be able to take something so forgettable and make 'prettiness' out of it.
ReplyDeleteLike the use of the frame, as you said perfect for this project.
ReplyDeletePerfect! Love the flowers, love the frame, love it all!
ReplyDeleteI find the gold, ornate frames to be just too much for almost anything, so painting it black makes the frame stand out without being overpowering.
ReplyDeleteThe spiders add the perfect touch!
This came out very nice! I love to recycle & DIY! Spray is a girls best friend! Anxious to see all your projects this week!

Love love love it........great way to recycle frame and toilet paper rolls. The flowers "frame" your project perfectly. The spiders add that perfect touch of whimsey. Well done.

Awesome frame project Emily!!
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly certain this wasn't suppose to happen-but that quote moved me to tears. What a beautiful sentiment-it brings back memories of a simpler,
ReplyDeletegentler time.I want to use it with fireflies somehow.Thank you for taking me back in time.
I like everything about your frame except the spiders!
ReplyDeleteI really love this frame and altered piece! LOVE the addition of the spiders...which I didn't even notice at first! Almost like a project with a hidden surprise!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this frame. I think this line is gorgeous. Orange is my favorite color. I'd probably skip the spiders, though. I'm petrified of them :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! I hate spiders but this frame was just darling.
ReplyDeleteI adore this project. And as I was looking at it and making notes on how it was made, I came to a great idea! If you used repositional adhesive, you could remove the halloween details later ...replace with something current and it would work year long!
ReplyDeleteGreat project!
love this picture frame! thanks for the chance to win goodies!
