Beautiful Decor with Renew!

When I first saw the Renew Collection, I sighed aloud. It's gorgeous. I just love the bright yellow against the gorgeous teals, white and black. I found this wonderful wooden hanging decor piece from Sierra Pacific Crafts. I usually buy my wooden pieces from my local craft and scrapbook store, but I know that the big box stores also have similar items. I also snagged a piece of Oracal vinyl in Black, as I wanted to create a title for the piece.
I started with the back side of a piece of Rejuvenate. I loved how the black title would pop against the yellow pattern of the paper. There are a few things I use for creating wooden decor items: spray adhesive, an emery board/nail file, and an electronic nail file. Spray adhesive is great for wood, as it won't create any bubbles or get the paper wet. Cut your paper out using a craft knife, then spray as directed and adhere. When the paper has dried for a bit, I use the emery board to smooth off the edges and a little bit of the wood. This way, the paper will not peel from the wood. For any holes, use the electronic nail file to make perfect holes. I grabbed mine from a discount store. Just a little hint... both are better if not brand new. Use those nail files that you were going to previously toss!
I really wanted to play with the some of the new Double Sided Paper Accents, specifically the Puzzle Pieces and the Block Numbers. These were great, as the paper is 12x12, but my project was a little bit longer. As you can see, I used the Puzzle Pieces to cover up the edges of the wood piece.
The Number Blocks were perfect for giving a title to each of the three photos that I was going to use. I added the Petite Type to the Number Blocks to personalize each of them.
See how the Number Blocks and the Puzzle Pieces work together. They really are pretty fun.
The title was cut using my Silhouette. I welded the letters so that they were only in two pieces. This was the first time that I had ever used vinyl, and it came out really cute.
Each of the three hanging photo squares were covered in Authentique paper (Spring, Flourish & Transform), then with a black and white photo.

For the finishing touch, I used a cute yellow ribbon to tie the hangers of the piece together. I cannot wait to hang this in my craft room.
