"Smitten" True Love Wall Hanging
Hi everyone, Audrey here, sharing a sweet home decor project with you today featuring the fabulous new Smitten collection.
I am a huge fan of holiday decorating, and little wall hangings such as these are one of my favorite quick and easy project ideas. For this hanging, I made use of some leftover pages of an acrylic mini album that I've been saving. By connecting two pages together through their pre-existing holes and adding a wire to the top for a handle, you have the perfect base for a wall hanging. So quick and fun, and a great way to stretch your scrapbooking supplies!
I added some messy paint to the base, and then loaded my hanging up with papers and embellishments. Here's how to get started.
Paint the edges of each acrylic page with gesso, and then apply a chevron pattern to the centers using a stencil.
Cut a panel of 6x6 Bundle paper to fit the center of your bottom page. My block is 4 1/2" x 2 1/2". Punch a thin strip of black solid paper using a scallop border punch and adhere strip under the bottom of the patterned paper panel. Cut another strip of the black paper that is 4 1/2" x 1" and adhere across the top of the paper panel. Adhere lace trim to the top of the panel, then affix the panel to the acrylic page.
Add a die cut sentiment from the Components Accent Sheet.
Tie a seam binding bow together with gingham ribbon using hemp, and adhere bow to the left side of the hanging. Tuck decorative pins into the bow. Paint a chipboard heart with gesso and adhere to the top of the Be Mine heart sticker from the Details Sticker Sheet. Affix heart to the center of the bow.
Cut a 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" panel of the same patterned paper you used on the bottom. Layer onto black solid paper and trim out. Adhere to the top acrylic page.
Cut two 12" x 1 3/4" strips from Cupid patterned paper. Score every 1/4" using a scoring board or bone folder. Accordion-fold the score lines, adhere the two strips together then into a loop. Press the loop flat, pinch the edges tightly together, and adhere a paper scrap to the center to create a paper rosette. Adhere rosette to the center of the hanging.
Adhere gingham ribbon to the back of the True Love die cut from the Components die cut sheet. Affix to the center of the rosette.
Paint a small chipboard heart with gesso and adhere heart to the letter O of the sentiment. Tie another bow using seam binding and twine, top with a black button, and adhere to the top right corner. Tuck decorative pins into the bow.
Tie the top and bottom together using ribbon, wire, or hemp. Add wire to the top. Hang and enjoy!
