Vintage Photos & Summer Layouts

As summer winds down it's time to gather photos from your adventures and document the memories while the details are still fresh in your mind!

 Today Design Team member Keely shares two layouts created with our Felicity & Cheerful collections. Keely creates the most beautiful layouts using vintage photos. Her style is a match made in heaven with Authentique Paper products...vintage with a modern twist.

The lovely "Felicity" collection reminds me of strolling down the boardwalk, feeling the warm breeze on my face, and the sounds of the ocean.  I wanted to create a layout to express that love of Summer.

I began my layout by choosing the yellow pattern of Felicity Two 12x12 paper.  I then used a stencil to cut a half bracket with the blue pattern of Felicity Five 12x12 paper and a large strip of navy from Old Glory One paper from the Spectrum Series tone on tone pattern papers.  I added a large circle cut from Felicity Four 12x12 paper and a rectangle cut from the floral pattern of Felicity Two 12x12 paper.

 I added a lovely vintage photo, Felicity die-cuts, stickers, rhinestone swirls, and flowers.  Go ahead and be adventurous; create layouts with lots of patterns and shapes, but most importantly....have fun!

 Friends, picnics, and simple pleasures all represent Summertime to me.  The new "Cheerful" collection includes all of this Summer fun along with beautiful shades of red, green, and yellow. I wanted to combine this lovely vintage photo with the "Cheerful" collection to create a fun layout.

I chose the basket weave pattern of Cheerful One 12x12 paper as my background page.  I then cut a large circle from the red pattern of Cheerful Three 12x12 paper and a smaller circle from the strawberry print of Cheerful Five 12x12 paper.  I love incorporating circles into my layouts.  It softens the look when added to all of the squares and rectangles.  What's a picnic without a red and white checkered tablecloth?  Next, I chose the checkered pattern of Cheerful One 12x12 paper and cut a long rectangle to add to the right of the layout.  I also chose to add rectangles from the fun green print pattern of Cheerful Nine 12x12 paper and green polka-dot pattern of Cheerful Two 12x12 paper.

 Once I have the foundation for my layout with patterned papers, I add my photo, die-cuts, and stickers.  I love collecting vintage photos. This particular photo reminds me of a romantic picnic for two.  Go create something "Cheerful" today!
