Sweet and Sassy Valentine with Lovestruck

Hello, Friends!  Don't you think it's just lovely the way Valentine's Day comes right after Christmas?  This way, instead of being sad that Christmas is over, we can be excited about fabulous new paper collections from Authentique!  Today I have a sweet and sassy Valentine made with Authentique Lovestruck.  This collection has a great retro vibe and a great sense of humor.

Don't you love the classy, sassy gal on the cover of this 5" x 7" top fold card?   I created this card with a 1/2 spine at the top fold so that I could tuck a lot of fun goodies on the inside

I really love the red and aqua color combo in the patterned papers. And what about this flower?  It's made by fussy cutting the doily pattern from Lovestruck Five.  Here's how I did it:

  • Fussy cut one whole doily image from Lovestruck Five.  Place it on a foam mat.  Use a ball stylus to gently shape the edges.  I started at the tip of each "petal" and pulled the stylus toward the center of the doily.  Then I ran the stylus around the inner perimeter of the doily to raise the petals.  Finally, I used my fingers to pinch the very edge of each petal up.
  • Next, fussy cut one of the inner layers of the doily and repeat the above steps for shaping the petals. Stagger the petal design and hot glue in the center of the first flower layer.
  • Now, cut the inner section of the doily and repeat.  Again, stagger the petals.
  • Finally, hot glue a vintage button in the center of the flower.  Place a white doily behind the flower and glue to the card cover.

A Peek Inside

I'm of the opinion that every Valentine should come with chocolate.  So I built a little belly band from a scrap of Lovestruck 5 , topped it with a sticker and tucked a little chocolate wallet in it.

It's just the right size to hold this Ghiradelli chocolate treat and a tiny little tag.

I decorated the large pocket on the bottom with the Be Mine Banner from the sticker sheet.  Then I tucked a fun little tag inside.

The tag is decorated with a die cut felt heart, felt flowers and a button.  Using stickers makes quick work of tag building!

I hope I've shared some fun ideas that you can use when making your Valentines.  I'll be back on Wednesday with some Valentine ideas for the kids.  Until then, I wish you lots of fun crafty adventures!

Cheerio,
Kathy
