Refreshed Folio and Hello, Spring Card Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  Are you tired of winter?  Me, too!  Sometimes, you have to make your own Springtime, and that's exactly what I did when I broke out Authentique Paper's charming Refreshed paper collection.  It may have been cold and grey outside, but it was Springtime in my studio, baby!

This dapper little birdie is heading back to her northern home, so that has to mean that Springtime is on the way, right?  I could not resist using this darling image on the cover of this 5" x 5" folio.

I created the folio base by joining three 11" x 5" strips of blue cardstock together with 1/2" Scor-Tape.  Next, I placed this long strip on my scoring tool, scoring at 5" and again at 5 1/4".  I just kept repeating this pattern all the way to the end of the paper.  Then I die cut the little piece on the end with a Spellbinder's Label 8 Die to create a flap closure for the album.

Each section of the folio is lined with a 4 7/8" square of paper from the Refreshed 6" x 6" Bundle Pack.  The patterns are perfectly sized for this small folio.  Stickers and journal cards from the 12" x 12" Collection kit were used to decorate the pages. I matted the stickers on scraps of cardstock and turned them into little tags and tuck spots.

I just love the fresh colors, images and patterns in this collection!
The journal cards are the perfect size to use for flaps and waterfall features.

The strips of paper left over from cutting down the page liners are just the right size to serve as pockets.  I used the sticker sheet to add cute details throughout the album.

Here's another fun way to use the journal cards from the cut apart page.  Glue down the top, bottom and side and you've got an instant pocket!

Spring Showers Greeting Card with Tutorial

By the time I finished up my Hello, Spring Folio, I was feeling pretty Refreshed.  LOL  So I decided to make a card.  This image just melts me.  All those sweet Littles playing in the rain with their umbrellas takes me right back to my childhood.

I have as much fun decorating the inside of my cards as I do the outsides.  Here, I created a double pocket with the Hello Spring Journal card. I added some little banners made with scraps from my work table.

I scored a scrap piece of cardstock in half, then added another journal card to the cover.

Then I turned the journal cards from the 6" x 6" Bundle Pack into cute little tags to fill the pocket on the inside.  This is such a great way to use up those scraps of beautiful designer paper.

The large pocket on the bottom holds a honey stick to go along with the tea bag.  That sweet mini envelope has a chocolate treat tucked inside, too.
