Springtime Easel Cards Tutorial with Beautiful Dame

Hello, Paper Lovers!  It's Kathy here today with some fabulous ideas for Authentique's splendid Dame Collection.  Ooh la la!  I do love the classic images, elegant patterns and vintage prints housed in this amazing springtime collection.  They lend themselves so well to home decor projects that I decided to create some large easel cards that can double as springtime decor in your home.

Springtime in Paris Upright Easel Card Tutorial

This first card measures just a little larger than 5" x 7" and has a 1/2" scored spine.  The upright style makes it a great as table decor for a spring party, or spring mantel decoration.

By simply scoring your card base and adding a dimensional stopper, you can turn a flat card into a dramatic display piece.  That's one of the reasons I love making easel cards so much!

In the YouTube tutorial below, you'll learn how to build the card base. I'll also share one of my favorite tricks for creating extra dimension in a card design.

Every easel card needs a "stopper" to help it stand upright.  I'll show you how to do this, and share some basic rules for composition in the accompanying video tutorial.

For me, finishing the inside of a card is as much fun as designing the outside.  We'll decorate the card interior together, too.

Beautiful Dame Twisted Easel Card Tutorial

Another fun thing about easel cards is that they come in all different sizes, shapes and styles.  This is a 6" x 6" twisted easel card.  It looks complicated to make, but it actuality, it just requires one simple score line.  It doesn't get any easier than that!

The larger size and format of this card really make it a great choice for table decor.  It would also do a great job of cheering up your work desk!

I really played up the shabby chic vibe of this gorgeous collection, and I'll share all those tips with you in the video tutorial.

And of course, we'll talk about decorating the inside of the card, and creating the stopper, too.  If you're ready to learn how to build this fun twisted easel base, just click on the video link below.

It's always fun to create some fresh home decor to welcome Springtime into our homes.  I hope I've shared some tips, tricks and techniques today that you can use in your own crafty adventures!

Thanks for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy
