Sea Maiden Tranquility Card Folio Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  It's Kathy here, just back from a quick trip to the beach.  I'm so glad I packed my Authentique Sea Maiden in my run away from home bag!  The weather took a turn for the nasty, so we spent a lot of time indoors.  Having these gorgeous beach papers made the monsoon rains much easier to endure.

I did manage a few walks on the beach where I picked up the treasures used on this 5.25" 7.25" card front.  Having limited supplies (I had to fit everything into a zip top 13x13x2 plastic bag!) was really not a problem, as this collection kit comes with stickers, cardstock components, fabulous patterned paper and gorgeous images.

Both of the focals on the card front are from Sea Maiden One.  This collage style paper is loaded with so many inspiring images.  I fell in love with this red-headed mermaid, and framed her with a circular doily frame to make her stand out on the page.

Fussy cut fish, seaweed, and starfish help frame this pretty shell.  I added a few of the shells, a feather and a bit of sand from one of my jaunts on the beach to the collage.

This card folio features a fun gatefold style accordion fold album and a handy pocket.

This mini folio measures 3.5" x 5.5" and fits nicely into the large pocket.  A simple wrapped burlap string binding holds it closed.

Here's a peek inside the mini folio.  I love this quote...and I thought it went well with the chocolate treat.  (What doesn't go with chocolate???)  This is a great spot to tuck in a little gift card or write a little note on the enclosed tag.

I'm always on the lookout for good ways to use my scraps.  So I created a little pocket on the front of the gatefold folio.  Then I tucked in this itty bitty card, just for fun.

The folio is filled with fun flaps, pockets and mini tags made from the sticker sheet.

And just look at all these gorgeous patterns!

I prepared a video project share and tutorial so that you can see how all these mechanisms work.  So many of you have asked me to share how I make my 5" x 7" card bases, that I've added a tutorial for that, as well as tutorials for making the pockets and the accordion fold mechanism.  Just press play to watch. I hope you enjoy!

My mini beach vacation wasn't a total wash out.  I was able to spend some quality time playing with paper that I love in between the storms.  In fact, I have two more Sea Maiden projects that I'll be sharing here with you soon.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy
